Dignity in Dying response to the Government’s End of Life Care Strategy

Dignity in Dying response to the Government’s End of Life Care Strategy

Commenting on the End of Life Care Strategy, Sarah Wootton, Chief Executive of Dignity in Dying, the UK’s leading organisation campaigning for greater patient choice at the end of life, said:

“This is an extremely important and positive development in the way end-of-life care services are delivered. We welcome the Strategy’s focus on individual choice as at present, many people’s legitimate expectations of choice, control and access to services at the end of life are not met by reality.

“Implementation of the strategy is key to ending the present postcode lottery in good quality palliative care: if we are to see real change both central Government and PCTs must be committed to delivering on the strategy.”
