Setting standards for end-of-life care.

Compassion in Dying is an endorsing organisation of the Quality Standards (i.e. Compassion in dying contributed to and supports it). Of particular importance is that patient preferences for care and medical treatment at the end of life take centre stage – with a focus on strong communication between healthcare teams and patients so that patients get the care they would like. The standard also covers support for the families and carers of loved ones who are dying.

This Quality Standard is a welcome addition to other work, such as the Charter for End of Life Care and the National End of Life Care Programme, to ensure that people can have the best death possible for them.
